About Us

“Education is not something the teacher does, but a natural process that develops spontaneously in the human being.”

— Dr. Maria Montessori
Keyla Martinez
Director of Downtown

Dear Families!

Serving this community has been a true blessing. I started my professional journey in Montessori over twenty years ago, and I am thrilled to be here after so much growth in my career and personally.

I am a certified Montessori Guide for the Infant/Toddler and Primary level. I am also a DFPS-certified Childcare Director. Throughout my career, I have held various positions on campus. Additionally, I have had the privilege of being a Montessori parent to Elvin, who is 23 years old, Marcos, who is 20, and Elayna, who is 17.

I grew up in Nicaragua, moved to L.A. as a teenager, and relocated to Austin in 2001. Now, I find myself in the most beautiful dream job I have ever had. Serving and creating an environment for growth for children and adults, filled with compassion and gratitude, is one of my career’s most rewarding goals.
I thoroughly enjoy the daily challenges of being the Owner/Director of Mi Casita, and I love working with the amazing group of talented and caring adults. For those of you I haven’t met yet, I’m looking forward to getting to know you and your children.

Thank you for joining this special community, and welcome to Mi Casita!

Dana
Director of East

Welcome to Mi Casita!

I am Dana, the Director for Mi Casita. I am very excited to welcome our new and returning families!

I was born in Guanajuato, Mexico, and moved to Austin, TX, when I was four. I was raised in Austin and am a proud Austinite. I am the oldest of four children- two sisters and a brother. I enjoy nature walks, listening to music, and spending time with my dog, Tsuki.

When I started my career in Montessori education, I began as an assistant in the toddler environment. After receiving so much love from the little ones, I transitioned to working in a primary environment. I am thankful to have experienced both environments, as it has helped me understand the transition that primary children go through.  The Montessori philosophy resonated with me, and from that point on, I knew that it was what I wanted to dedicate my time to.

I completed my Montessori training at the Houston Montessori Center for Early Childhood (2.5-6 years) and continue loving it more daily. Over the summer, I began my transition onto the admin team, and I am grateful to have been a part of this compassionate and nurturing community for the past six years. I look forward to welcoming you and your child to Mi Casita Montessori!

A Family Owned Business

Mi Casita Austin Montessori is a proud family-owned business built on a foundation of love, dedication, and community values.

Founded by Keyla Martinez, Mi Casita began as a vision to create a small warm, welcoming environment where families feel at home. Her passion and commitment have shaped every aspect of the business, turning it into more than just a place — it’s a part of the community.

Keyla’s husband, Ariel, plays a vital role in the heart of the operation, working closely with her to support the business in every way possible. Their shared dedication keeps Mi Casita running with care and consistency.

Dana, the Director, brings leadership and heart to the team, ensuring that daily operations run smoothly while maintaining the family-first atmosphere that Mi Casita is known for.

Elvin, serving as Assistant Director ensures that everything behind the scenes runs safely and efficiently. His hands-on work and attention to detail help keep Mi Casita a beautiful, functional space for all who enter.

Together, this close-knit team treats every customer like family — because Mi Casita Montessori isn’t just a business; it’s a homegrown dream brought to life by family, for families
