  • About our School

    Keyla Martinez, Director

As Mi Casita’s Director, I wish you a very warm welcome to our Preschool Communities! We are located in the Downtown and South Austin areas.  Since 2016 we have been dedicated to providing a high-quality, bilingual education to all students we serve. The idea for Mi Casita Montessori was born when we realized a need for providing a learning environment that implements both a Montessori and bilingual education for young children.

    What is Montessori?

    107613

The Montessori Method, developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, is a child-centered approach based on observations of the young child. The approach has been tested over time, with over 100 years of success in diverse cultures throughout the world.

The method views the child as naturally eager for knowledge and, more importantly, capable of learning in a supportive, thoughtfully prepared learning environment. It is an approach that values the human spirit and the development of the whole child—physical, social, emotional, and cognitive.

Montessori communities nurture world awareness in the classroom as we demonstrate the natural passages from local to global. The concrete and immediate needs of the community can cultivate a universal human understanding that awakens the highest respect for all life on earth.

    Mission

It is our goal to provide a loving, diverse, bilingual, educational environment for young children built on a foundation of compassion, gratitude and service.

    Vision

We aspire to attain our mission through the leadership of a dedicated administrative team and the guidance of trained Montessori guides, all committed to continuous personal and professional development. We seek to build community for the extended family of Mi Casita Montessori through family events, parent workshops, and service opportunities. Our vision includes . . .

    • Bilingual learning environments for all children
    • A social-emotional curriculum based on acceptance and respect for others
    • Scholarship opportunities to promote diversity within our program
    • And, a commitment to service
