    Our Programs

All programs are five days a week, Monday-Friday.

Our East location offers the Infant Program that is spacious to encourage freedom of movement for children aged 2 months through three years old. Our classroom is safe, stimulating, and most importantly full of love. The preparedness of the teachers allows students to learn at their own pace, using their senses to explore and discover the world. The classroom focuses on two basic needs of the infant— a safe bonded relationship between adult and child, and the development of the child’s growing sense of self and independence.

The Toddler environment, located at our Downtown and East location, consists of a group of children aged 12 months through three years. Their day includes independent and small group activities that develop gross and fine motor skills, and cognitive, social, and language skills. Additionally, art, music, and free play round out their busy day. Because children in this age group love to be “on the go,” ample opportunity is provided to explore the outdoor environment, engage in water activities, or just run in the sun for a part of every day.

Mi Casita East and Downtown also offers the Primary program which consists of mixed-aged children ranging from 2.5 to 6 years of age. Maria Montessori designed her classrooms with mixed ages because she found children learn best from helping and observing their peers. The children have a two-hour morning work cycle, which helps to foster deep concentration and focus. Children are presented with lessons throughout the morning both individually and in small groups. They are allowed freedom of choice, which promotes intrinsic motivation and ownership over their own learning. Our environments are beautifully prepared and set up for the success of each child. The main areas of the Montessori classroom include practical life, sensorial, math, language, and culture. The children will be free to explore both indoors as well as outdoors. We believe being out in nature is fundamental for the growth of children at this age.

We offer both a Half Day Program and a Full Day Program.

The Half Day Program ends after lunchtime and before nap or the second work period.

Children are picked up at 12:00 p.m.

The Full Day Program includes either a nap time or a second work period.

Children are picked up at 2:30 p.m.

We have an Early Arrival Program starting at 7:30 and an After School Program from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

You may enroll in the Early Arrival Program and/ or the After School Program.

    Bilingual Environments

At Mi Casita Austin Montessori school we provide bilingual education. It is during the sensitive period of language (birth to age 8) when children can learn any language with minimal effort in a natural way. The “absorbent mind” of the child picks up the language by making associations with what is heard to the daily routines and to the materials the child is seeing and using.

In addition to developing a usable fluency in Spanish, the children develop the ability and willingness to tolerate ambiguity and to search for meaning. The exposure of a second language not only stimulates and challenges the brain but builds an extra mental capacity and further develops concentration, listening, analyzing, and verbal skills. Spanish is an integral part of our curriculum. Children hear Spanish throughout the day. Guides introduce Spanish through songs, games, instructions, greetings and special lessons.

    Social and Emotional

At Mi Casita we understands how a child’s social emotional growth plays into every aspect of their development. Our Guides encourage children to resolve social conflicts in a positive way and focus on that child’s strengths and what they add to the classroom as a whole. Children are shown how to regulate their emotions in healthy ways through rationale thinking.
